Washington lawmakers propose allowing pot growing at home
OLYMPIA â Washington lawmakers have proposed a bill that would allow anyone 21 years old or older to grow as many as six marijuana plants at home.
The bill was proposed Thursday by Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle, in the Senate and Rep. Brian Blake, D-Aberdeen, in the house.
The Seattle Times reported the measure would also allow people to legally share the pot they grow and to possess up to eight ounces, which is seven more than the current recreational limit.
The proposal was part of another bill earlier this year that lost momentum when lawmakers turned their attention to a competing proposal by Ann Rivers, R-La Center, to overhaul the marijuana market.
Kohl-Welles attempted to amend that bill with a home-growing provision but did not get enough votes.
